Cisco is introducing a new wireless certification track, reestablishing a dedicated focus on modern wireless technologies. The track includes Professional and Expert-level certifications that build practical skills to design, deploy, and manage advanced wireless networks. The new CCNP Wireless exams realign wireless content previously found in CCNP Enterprise, while the CCIE Wireless practical exam now incorporates Cisco Meraki along with Wi-Fi 6 and Wi-Fi 7.
The CCNP Wireless certification validates advanced knowledge and practical skills in designing, implementing, and managing modern wireless networks.
It covers core wireless technologies including RF fundamentals, 802.11 standards, client connectivity, wireless monitoring, automation, and AI. It also tests a candidate’s ability to deploy advanced solutions such as FlexConnect, QoS, Multicast, enhanced security, and location services, as well as expertise in wireless network design—from site surveys to high availability and mobility.
Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites for CCNP Enterprise, but you should have a good understanding of the exam topics before taking the exam.
CCNP candidates often also have three to five years of experience implementing enterprise networking solutions.
Understanding Cisco Wireless Foundations (WLFNDU) is highly recommended for candidates to gain wireless technology foundation knowledge before attempting CCNP Wireless certification.
Exams and recommended training
To earn CCNP Wireless, you pass two exams: a core exam and a concentration exam of your choice:
- The core exam ftests a candidate's knowledge of implementing core wireless technologies including radio frequency fundamentals, 802.11 technology fundamentals, client connectivity, wireless monitoring and management, automation and AI.
- Concentration exams certifies a candidate's knowledge of wireless network design including site surveys, wired and wireless infrastructure, mobility and WLAN high availability, knowledge of wireless network implementation including FlexConnect, QoS, Multicast, advanced location services, security for client connectivity, monitoring and device hardening. You can prepare for concentration exams by taking corresponding Cisco training courses.
